Surely Is What You Expect It To Be

Another Christmas movie starring Hudgens, how convenient. Just like they say, Hudgens follows the old phrase, one cliche at a time. This year, it's Christmas time travel. Our 14th century night travels to 2019, to prove he has a heart. On his mighty quests, he meets his Lady Brooks. I wont give any more details, since this one is a spoiler-free review, but you can guess. Your own, hard as Rubik's cube quest hah?

The movie plot is truly cliche, ordinary and easy. Yet still, not a total disaster, if you are a fan of these Christmas romance cliches, mostly staring Hudgens. The story has a romantic highway and it's pretty impossible to stop it. Seriously, no one thought the crazy guy might do something... crazy? He had a sword for god's sake. Anyways, the characters' developments are rather cosmetic. They do develop, but all into one happy society, which is just a fairy tale, which still makes sense I guess, in a Christmas fairy tale. Yep, the jokes are all done, back to the review. The story has gaps, for instance, how come the santa didn't recognise the crook, disquised as his wife, yet clearly doesn't look anything like her, and has a different accent? Also, why do people clap when they see the guy in armour riding a horse? Is it their first time seeing an armour, or first time seeing a horse? Also, did the knight see his partner's previous christmas movies on his picture box, as we call it,Netflix? What does he think about switching places with a plumber who look just like him on next year's Christmas movie? Ok seriously, that was the last joke, I promise.

A quick word about Hudgens if I may. Well, Hudgens truly likes acting in these Christmas speicals, and truly looks good on them no wonder. Yet still, she certainly deserves a bit more than these cheesy cliches over and over again every year. I loved her on "Thirteen" for example, not much of a good movie, but she shines in it, one way or another. Still, in the end, I will be watching the next year's special too obviously, what can I say? I like the concept, I just hate the formulated scripts.

Technically, the quality of the picture is amazing, surprisingly good. Shooting method is not that unusual, and somewhat steady. The movie is pretty bright, well lit, yet doesn't tire your eyes, nicely done. Soundtracks include the classics listed, starting with "Jingle Bells" as always. It's all good on soundtracks. Oh, I loved the Alexa play jokes, they were funnier than most of the jokes that intended to be funny.

And so on... but in the end, "The Knight Before Christmas" is yet another title about Christmas in Hudgen's IMDB page, between last year's and next year's. Very predictable, easily forgettable, and merely a cliche, yet that's the point I guess?
