Alright, so in this teen movie, we have a teenager gentleman trying out for Harvard. As expected, he needs an essay for application to get in. Well, he thinks that's no a big deal, he writes an essay, add all the things he know will work. He tells them about all the fancy student clubs he's part of, the ones he joined to make his application look cooler. Seems like the perfect candidate. Yet, his counselor doesn't like it, and tell him to try again, and try to be a more interesting person this time. That would be good for the viewer as well, thank you counselor.

Our hero, Brooks Rattigan, is actually quite the entrepreneur in heart, he just doesn't know it at first. After some time spent idling, and some time spent with his best bud, the opportunity knocks on his door. Well, not literally, gets in through the doors of his workplace to be more clear. Anyways, he makes a deal with his school's toughest rich kid. He agrees to be a stand-in for annoying anti-social, Celia in her school formal dance. In the formal he sees the school's queen bee, Shelby. He falls in love with her... sort of. Anyways, on the way back, Celia jokes about him being a gentle kind of paid escort, which is kind of accurate. He then realizes that's actually a good idea indeed. He talks about it with his cyber bully best friend, and becomes partner with him to start an app. After some spam floods in Reddit, the app, Stand-in, starts taking minor's piggy bank money from their pockets for silly things, like making ex jealous, driving family crazy, rodeo... the classic stuff. The app gets their back in every possible situation, therefore the business goes crazy, he gets closer and closer to Harvard every day. In the mean time, Brooks get closer to Celia, becoming best friends with her, even though still doesn't have her phone number saved in his contacts however. Everything goes just as planned, he even nails the interview at Harvard. But just like you predicted, everything goes sideways after some time, leaving him alone, without any friends, family, or girlfriend.

The movie is pretty similar to any teen movie covering a kid writing an essay. So I know you won't anyway, but don't expect nothing unique, or creative before watching "The Perfect Date". It's pretty easy to predict the most of the story. In fact, you could actually got it all the same, if you were the one writing the script for this. The story is driving the characters to the inescapable ending. Characters are lost in their little universe and don't care much about rest of the world. The film was bright enough. Soundtracks were not unacceptable but not enough for me either.Yet still, Noah Centineo, Laura Marano star in it, so you should just watch it... well at least they thought you would, clearly.

After all, if you ask my opinion, watching "The Perfect Date" is not the perfect use of your time. It offers nothing new, shows nothing you didn't see before. It's a worn-out cliche, at most a predictable teen romantic comedy, that offers nothing quite funny. "The Perfect Date", nothing perfect about this one to be honest.
