Just Say Yes (2021) Movie Review

Bad.

In reading order, images belong to Netflix, Netflix, Netflix. We do not own any of the images and we do not claim any right on them.

Wow, I never thought I would ever say this, but I watched a bad movie. Yeah, I know that's not the case, but it sure feels good to imagine. Welcome back to CineMortals mortals, today we're going with yet another bad movie, because that's just fun and I love watching these! Welcome to the first ever review speedrun.

Just Say Yes is a romantic comedy, following the adventures of mighty Lotte. Lotte is working in a TV channel. She is the "I wanna be married, because, because" type. So when her boyfriend of 5 years shoots the holy and sacred question, she just says yes! But, before the actual wedding, Alex the boyfriend gets cold feet and just storms out from her life, leaving her stranded and, well alone. Like that wasn't enough for our sweet Lotte, the breakup is also aired, on live TV because someone forgot to pull the plug. (I think that's how it works in this channel) So, she gets upset, normally and... well goes home. Time for a fast forward now, buckle up.

So, Lotte bumps into a weird guy on street, she hates him, he turns out to be her new coworker, he gets the job she wanted so much, he makes a deal with her to get Alex back to her, he does a make over on her, Alex realizes, Alex flirts, Alex asks her out, weird guy realizes he's in love with her but says nothing, Alex asks her to marry again, weird guy gets sad, Lotte ruins her sister's wedding, Lotte and her sister makes peace, weird guy leaves, Lotte chases him, Lotte misses him, Lotte bumps into weird guy, the big kiss happens, credits roll. That's pretty much it, more or less.

Critic time! The movie offers little to no originality and totally zero creativity. It's full of cheesy cliches, and not in a good, cute way. It's a romantic comedy, yet it's not romantic or funny in any level. Story is most direct, nothing surprises the viewer, too easy. Acting is weak, the stars show very little effort, most of them look bored, probably more than I was when I was watching it. Character development doesn't exist. Only character that looks like developing is Lotte, but even that is problematic, she doesn't grow, she just runs into the light, which we can see from miles away, behind our screens watching Netflix. The movie is colorful, I'll give it that. That's probably the only thing I liked really, the vibrant colors.

In the end, Just Say Yes is gets just a no from us. A not so new attempt to reach the known point by producing the same, the exact same movie over and over. Boring, blend, cheesy, and sadly a waste of time. Sorry guys, maybe next time? Oh, the weird guy is called Chris by the way.
