Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) Movie Review

A Title Easy To Forget

The movie "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" is one of Appatow's productions, therefore has a pretty classic vibe going. A guy, who is not really confident, somehow gets the attention of a beautiful woman, and gets lost without her. It's easy to predict you are gonna laugh before watching it, considering the previous ones from Appatow (like Superbad, which was one of the best teen movies in my opinion) But is it really enough for this movie to be just funny? Well, the answer is no, since it's a romantic comedy promising a life lesson, which is pretty well put at the end of it, yet not enough displayed.

The movie makes you laugh all right, that's the thing that made you purchase it anyway. Also, our hero, Peter, is such a gentleman, it's easy to like him really. We see on his Hawaii journey that he is also a... pretty funny guy really. Yet, he is the loser of this story, and with the help of his new friends, he tries to get over Sarah Marshall. No more story details, no more spoilers, promise.

It's easy to spot that the story is well written, but it's also a cliche. Not that it's boring to see it, but it's an open book. It has no surprises, you could pretty much get to the ending on your own after the first 15 minutes. Yet still, characters were well put, and the story expanded not so fast, not so slow. So I would say it was pretty OK to watch when you want to laugh watching a romance story. Acting is no problem for this cast, and they proved it right with this romantic comedy. Jason Segel deserves an extra credit for his role in this movie, nice touch. Although I should mention that I thought there were so many side roles with not so many side stories.

Technically, lighting was pretty solid, except for the ocean scenes I guess. The way of shooting it was nothing unusual, yet still pretty OK. As of soundtracks, well the movie is all about Peter and his soundtracks so, I guess it's alright. It's really a bright movie, yet isn't so special technically either, for me.

At the end, it's not a title you would watch for the second time after remembering how good it was. Only case I would watch it again would be the one I forgot about watching it. The movie offers you a good time, but nothing special to hold on to.

Just Go With It (2011) Movie Review

I am going to start my review by pointing out that I was truly curious when I saw Kidman in the cast. To be honest, I actually thought for a second that Adam Sandler was going to do a movie, which is not an Adam Sandler type of movie. Yet, that was not the case. "Just Go With It" is clearly a Sandler movie, which wasn't that much different than any other Sandler movie. Is that good or bad? Well, your call. Role Models (2008) Movie Review

A movie looks like a mainstream cheesy American comedy in the first look, "Role Models" actually offers quite a funny experience instead. It was actually nice to see a comedy movie that doesn't force you to laugh at meaningless car jokes, but instead makes you laugh, while succesfully transmitting it's main message, Do what you want to do with your life. Firstly, the plot is actually not bad at all. Even though it's just a comedy, character development mostly follows more of a drama pattern and grows with the story itself. Story expands a little too slow in some parts, a little too fast in some, but in the end, it expands and it doesn't feel forced so that's all good. 7500 (2019) Movie Review

 Released in 2019 for Germany, and in 2020 for most of the world, 7500 is a thriller set in a Berlin-Paris flight. Our leading character Tobias Ellis (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is the co-pilot of the flight which then became a subject to a terrorist attack. The terrorist group without any guns, but with knives made out of broken glass, tries to seize control of the plane on air. The terrorist group do all that to "show what it's like to lose someone" to the western world, according to their own words. They are just a bunch of brainwashed pawn in the field, trying to "revenge" the deaths in middle east. One of this terrorists, is a guy named Vedat, who is only 18 and is the only one in his group who speaks at least a bit of english. In the movie, we witness the frightening hours on this doomed flight. Throughout the movie, we can hear 4 different languages being spoken; Turkish, Arabic, German, and English. "The Wrong Missy" is a cheesy comedy, just like the ones before it. The new Netflix wanna-be comedy doesn't offer you much after the trailer, except for the same old story, first date gone wild type of romantic comedy. But is it worth a watch? First of all, I must mention right away that I just can't like the plot tricks so many comedies (first of all the Sandler ones) tried, and failed every time. Adding supernatural events, meaningless side characters and dialogues that make no sense whatsoever,just to make the comedy more goofy. It indeed is a safe option, but just doesn't make a good movie.
