Airplane Mode (2020) Movie Review

It's Like A Lot Of Things You've Seen Before                                                                             image by Amazon.com, lnc. A safe option for all movie makers for sure; shooting a low budget cliche, and just letting the people watch it for what it reminds. "Airplane Mode " is using exactly that option. It uses a popular topic, and put it in a concept that has been tried possibly hundreds of times. Put the selfish one in a farm middle of nowhere, lets see if the monster stay as a monster, or become a newborn angel. Now, let's see how did it go. The movie is about Ana, an influencer on a social media platform. She is just a selfish rich kid, using the infinite loophole of social media to make some money. But also, she's more of an addict, yes she likes money, but she is in it for the fame most of all. She is in it with everything she got. She is dating people so she can have more followers, she is going places so she can take better pictu

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020) Movie Review

The Title Is Like A Summary, Nice                                                                                      image by Amazon.com, lnc. With it's long, and pretty clear title, " Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga" is a Netflix original about a duo called Fire Saga. And as you can imagine, they are trying out for the Eurovision. Well, all I wrote in this first paragraph is actually clear as day in the title, but every review needs a beginning so.. just bear with me. The Fire Saga members, Lars and Sigrit are life long best friends. Lars is a guy obsessed with the Eurovision since he heard Abba singing on the contest when he was a kid. His father is not a fan of his music career, long story short. So he's pretty much on his own about music, except for Sigrit. Sigrit, is a grown woman, acting like a child, feeding elves and stuff... Sigrit, was also in the very same room where Lars fell in love with a song contest, and was dancing to Abba alongside

A Successful Adaptation For Sure                                                                                      image by Amazon.com, lnc. Based on the book with the same title, "All The Bright Places" is a teen drama that goes real hard on the viewer. It has the potential to make a grown, 20 year old, male viewer cry. So general viewer, just be prepared, onions are on the loose. Starring Elle Fanning and Justice Smith, this teen drama doesn't include anything teen-y really. Our heroes, Violet and Finch are just two kid with grown up problems. Movie starts with Violet, standing on the ledge of a bridge, of the bridge actually. Just as she is thinking about jumping, Theodore (Finch, he calls himself) talks her out of it. That's the starting of a doomed friendship, such a shame isn't it? Sharing your first memory with your friend, on the ledge of a bridge. Anyway, they just go back to their normal after that, until they get a school project together, with Fin

Dedicated Review For Mothers                                                                                    image by Amazon.com, lnc. Being a mother is one of the most beautiful things one can be, I suppose. "18 Presents" is a movie that  tries to make you understand what it's like to sacrifice so much for your baby. Also, it tries to make you realize how hard it is to grow up without a mother by your side. But in the mean time, it clear as day, doesn't achieve neither of these goals. The movie follows Elisa at first. A woman with a lovely house, steady paycheck, and a handsome husband, she's also pregnant as well. Love is in the air, seems like nothing is gonna tear them apart, but something does. One day, Elisa, our mother-to-be, gets real bad news after she faces some troubles. In the hospital, after her doctor's after examination pep-talk, she gets informed that she has a tumor, and it's inoperable due to her pregnancy. Doctor's speech feels l

A Successful Display Of Love                                                                                        image by Amazon.com, lnc. Wow, it has been ages since the last time I saw a teen rom-com that doesn't include a princess image. Therefore, even before starting the review, I must say, I was impressed about a lot of things in this movie. Sit back and relax people, after a long thread of disappointment, this will be a positive review! "The Half Of It" follows a smart, caring, but in need of money teen Ellie Chu. Ellie is a girl, but a grown up mind. She's no princess, and she is not intending to be, or acting to be. Which makes her role much more realistic and close to heart than most of the teen romance characters in other movies. Ellie writes essays for her schoolmates, for dirt cheap if you ask me, things were more expensive on our days. Anyways, she is trying to pay the bills with her earnings, even though she is 17. It's nothing unusual for her th

I Liked The Poster?                                                                               image by Amazon.com, lnc. Alright, so in this teen movie, we have a teenager gentleman trying out for Harvard. As expected, he needs an essay for application to get in. Well, he thinks that's no a big deal, he writes an essay, add all the things he know will work. He tells them about all the fancy student clubs he's part of, the ones he joined to make his application look cooler. Seems like the perfect candidate. Yet, his counselor doesn't like it, and tell him to try again, and try to be a more interesting person this time. That would be good for the viewer as well, thank you counselor. Our hero, Brooks Rattigan, is actually quite the entrepreneur in heart, he just doesn't know it at first. After some time spent idling, and some time spent with his best bud, the opportunity knocks on his door. Well, not literally, gets in through the doors of his workplace to be more cl

A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish (2019) Movie Review

This Is A Movie, It Seems                                                                                 image by Amazon.com, lnc. Honestly, I lost count on this movies. How many are there really? Anyways, as the title says, this is a cinderella story, not so different then her other stories. "A Cinderalla Story : Christmas Wish" follows our teen, who is subject of an interior abuse in her family, well, step family. If you know Cinderella's story, then you might as well just know what exactly will happen in the end without really watching it, at all. The movie has some positives, yet a lot of negatives. So in this review, the positives will get paragraphs of their own, while the negatives will be in a one long paragraph or two. First of all, the original soundtracks, close to original soundtracks at least, they were pretty good. Yes they were just about 2 verse, repeating itself. Yes they were all auto-tuned, and real badly performed, like seriously, just move your mou

Let It Snow (2019) Movie Review

It Was Good, Until It Wasn't                                                                                                                    image by Amazon.com, lnc. "Let It Snow" with it's young, but promising cast is a teen comedy set in Christmas. First of all,the movie doesn't present more than the "teens in snowing Christmas, friendships in danger movies" we know before that one. Though actually, that's not the problem because in the end, I already didn't expect a miracle out of this title before watching it. It's already such a Christmas movie cliche, so I was pretty okay with the environment at the very beginning, which was -not surprisingly- close to my prediction. So, I can say that the movie started with no surprises whatsoever really. Which, as I mentioned, was not really a problem at the first look for me. Yet still, the real deal breaker was the plot. The characters were nearly moving on automatically. Story is not

Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) Movie Review

A Title Easy To Forget                                                                                                                     image by Amazon.com, lnc. The movie "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" is one of Appatow's productions, therefore has a pretty classic vibe going. A guy, who is not really confident, somehow gets the attention of a beautiful woman, and gets lost without her. It's easy to predict you are gonna laugh before watching it, considering the previous ones from Appatow (like Superbad, which was one of the best teen movies in my opinion) But is it really enough for this movie to be just funny? Well, the answer is no, since it's a romantic comedy promising a life lesson, which is pretty well put at the end of it, yet not enough displayed. The movie makes you laugh all right, that's the thing that made you purchase it anyway. Also, our hero, Peter, is such a gentleman, it's easy to like him really. We see on his Hawaii journey

Good Sam (2019) Movie Review

Fails To Reach The Viewer                                                                                                                 image by Amazon.com, lnc. The movie "Good Sam" has a theme we all are familiar with. Pay it forward, make people happy to make yourself comfortable. Pretty classy right? Cliche, yet still would work, but did it? Firstly, it's really hard to categorize the movie, well at least I think it was really hard for the producers, since the movie is a lost love between inspirational drama, comedy and romance. Really though, the movie tries to give a basic message, so it's like a do good/feel good drama with a base line. In the other hand, it's not really a drama, since it mostly follows the so called love triangle, which isn't even a love triangle really, you can literally scream at the screen on what will happen in the end. So is it a romantic comedy? Not really, it's not that funny, or romantic. It's such an op

365 DNI (2020) Movie Review

Hard To See Why It Exists                                                                                                                    image by Amazon.com, lnc. Netflix's 2020 surprise "365 DNI" is a romance... a very physical romance. It's actually pretty hard to write a full review on this one, so I will try keep it short and simple for the ones considering to give it a try. The movie is about a guy abducting a woman he likes, putting her in a house, and making her fall in love with him. What's the problem? Well, this is gonna be a long list. Sit tight. First of all,the plot is terrible. There literally is no story to grow, the abduction itself is questionable and doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Character development is pretty much the same. Characters have no personality nearly, the movie is all about reaching to the physical parts sooner, which made the movie rather erotic than romantic. Technically, shooting of the movie, could be wors

Just Go With It (2011) Movie Review

No Surprises Here                                                                                                               image by Amazon.com, lnc. I am going to start my review by pointing out that I was truly curious when I saw Kidman in the cast. To be honest, I actually thought for a second that Adam Sandler was going to do a movie, which is not an Adam Sandler type of movie. Yet, that was not the case. "Just Go With It" is clearly a Sandler movie, which wasn't that much different than any other Sandler movie. Is that good or bad? Well, your call. The movie has a basic plot we all know, guy asks for a woman to be a stand-in for him to be with the pretty girl, therefore to be the happiest man. Pretty familiar right? Well the movie is basicly that, plus the jokes, the Sandler jokes. A quick pause here. To be perfectly clear, I just can't enjoy Adam Sandler movies at all. I find some of them offending, most of them meaningless, yet however, any of th

Pitch Perfect (2012) Movie Review

Singing It's Way Up Nicely                                                                                                              image by Amazon.com, lnc. The "Pitch Perfect" is a exceptional beauty for it's soundtracks. No one shall deny that. But the question is, is this half musical really a half movie at least? The movie follows the adventures of an a capella group, on it's way to state finals. Our rebel hero Beca, is about to change the dynamics on the campus. Movie includes a lot of well composed soundtracks, well it mostly includes soundtracks. Anyways, enough with pre-watch info, this is a spoiler-free review in the end. There's not a lot to say about the songs, but there is a lot to say about the parts without them. Well, even though the soundtracks keep this movie alive for as long as it lasts without boring the viewer, that's just not enough to be fair. I think that, with a fair judgement, it's OK to say that the movie is a

Surely Is What You Expect It To Be                                                                                                            image by Amazon.com, lnc. Another Christmas movie starring Hudgens, how convenient. Just like they say, Hudgens follows the old phrase, one cliche at a time. This year, it's Christmas time travel. Our 14th century night travels to 2019, to prove he has a heart. On his mighty quests, he meets his Lady Brooks. I wont give any more details, since this one is a spoiler-free review, but you can guess. Your own, hard as Rubik's cube quest hah? The movie plot is truly cliche, ordinary and easy. Yet still, not a total disaster, if you are a fan of these Christmas romance cliches, mostly staring Hudgens. The story has a romantic highway and it's pretty impossible to stop it. Seriously, no one thought the crazy guy might do something... crazy? He had a sword for god's sake. Anyways, the characters' developments are rather c

Role Models (2008) Movie Review

Gives You A Good Time, While It Lasts                                                                                                              image by Amazon.com, lnc. A movie looks like a mainstream cheesy American comedy in the first look, "Role Models" actually offers quite a funny experience instead. It was actually nice to see a comedy movie that doesn't force you to laugh at meaningless car jokes, but instead makes you laugh, while succesfully transmitting it's main message, Do what you want to do with your life. Firstly, the plot is actually not bad at all. Even though it's just a comedy, character development mostly follows more of a drama pattern and grows with the story itself. Story expands a little too slow in some parts, a little too fast in some, but in the end, it expands and it doesn't feel forced so that's all good. Cast has real good acts in this comedy, but I will mention 2 names here. Banks and Mintz-Plasse, both show e

Ten Inch Hero (2007) Movie review

A Unique And Lovely Movie Experience                                                                                                                   image by Amazon.com, lnc. "Ten Inch Hero" is a movie I somehow avoided for a long time, it was on my watch list, before the very existence of the term watch list. Anyways, our story follows a group of friends, working in a sandwich shop, with all problems of their own. Some of them consider themselves ugly, some of them is alone, some of them is missing their family. It's so early in the review, but it's safe to say that it's a lovely, unique story. Well at least it was.. in 2007. The plot is what I would call, joyful. It feels so good to see a movie with characters developing for real. Also, the story is pretty, it includes several sub stories, and all those stories gets to be displayed, even the bully's story. Even though I liked the story in general, I must say that story was repetitive at some po

The Wrong Missy (2020) Movie Review

Nothing Special, Nothing Fun                                                                                           image by Amazon.com, lnc. "The Wrong Missy" is a cheesy comedy, just like the ones before it. The new Netflix wanna-be comedy doesn't offer you much after the trailer, except for the same old story, first date gone wild type of romantic comedy. But is it worth a watch? First of all, I must mention right away that I just can't like the plot tricks so many comedies (first of all the Sandler ones) tried, and failed every time. Adding supernatural events, meaningless side characters and dialogues that make no sense whatsoever, just to make the comedy more goofy. It indeed is a safe option, but just doesn't make a good movie. How is that related to this one? Well let me explain. The film follows the chilling adventures of our couple, including but not limited to, fighting sharks. Our characters are more of immortal joke machines than a funn

The Princess Switch (2018) Movie Review

Doesn't Show Any Effort                                                                                                           image by Amazon.com, lnc. A Christmas movie "The Princess Switch" is a cliche we know by heart. It's about two identical women, switching places. As you know, they do the same movie every year for TV, with different actors. This one has just a tiny difference, one of the women is a princess to be, which doesn't make it unique either, since that's also a known version of this cheesy formula. So the prediction before the movie was just another one of the identical switch at christmas movies. So how was it? The movie has a pretty weak plot. Well, it was predictable at first. Didn't have anything more special from last year's version to be more clear. Character development doesn't exists, which might be OK since it's about Christmas spirit mainly. Well, that's not the case here. Story also has no healthy
